Knowledge and Skills Enhancement Activities:

We conduct Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) in different rural villages using 11 tools to identify issues and problems of communities and families for probable solutions so that they are sensitized to plan and develop their own natural resources and access social security and development schemes

Education:

We Established koinonia Training Schhool(KTS) in the year 1991 and is running it till today. It is duly recognized by the Directorate of Education(s) Government of Manipur under order No. 46/110/92-ED(G)(1) dated 11th  October,1996. It is also recognised by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur bearing recognisation no.97383 under order no.G/54(Vol-IV) dated 16th February, and 2006.The school has classes’ upto X standard.

The school was established as CSDO project school under the leaderships of Reverend SR.Onesima, Reverend RD.Joykumar Anal and Miss RD.Melody with the objective in mind  “Train a child in the way he should go, and when is old he will not turn from it”. It aims to lay the foundation of life and career of students for appearing in the High School Leaving Certificate Examinations and prepare future career.

Many of our graduates have become leaders of the churches & community, Doctors, Civil services, university professors, politicians and more.

Livelihood:

We are implementing North East Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP III) a joint developmental initiative of the North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of Development of North East Region and International Fund for Agricultural Development (FAD). The project aims to “improve the livelihoods of vulnerable groups in a sustainable manner through improved management of their resources base in a way that contributes to the preservation and restoration of the environment”.

We help the rural villages to plan and develop the natural resources and government resources to increase livelihood opportunities. We provide financial support for plantation of pumpkins, Ash gourds, bottle gourd, poultry, piggery, weaving, carpentry etc to 1200 vulnerable families from 40 villages.

We also implemented System of Rice Intensification(SRI) supported by Tata Trust, Mumbai. We supported 400 farmers. By adopting the method, there was increased of 40 to 50%  in productions.

HIV AIDS

We completed implementation of  Churches Project on Substance abuse and HIV AIDS, Koinonia Kids Care centre- a  care centre for children living with and affected by HIV AIDS supported by Tear Fund United Kingdom through North East India Drugs and AIDS care, Shillong. We also managed Hope Care centre a tailoring training centre for women living with HIV AIDS supported by World Vision Imphal ADP. We facilitated formation of  Churches Network for Community Care(CNCC) a network of about 250 churches of 13 churches associations.

Though these projects are completed, we still continue to integrate HIV AIDS in our projects in sensitization and counseling the people living with HIV AIDS and counseling families. We continue to support children living with & affected in education.

Youth Programme

We are implementing the Booth Camp  which is supported by the Teen Mission International, USA. The project give leadership training to the youths, building construction masonry skills, tract distribution, trekking etc during the camp.

Early childhood education and Care

We established and run Koinonia Kids School(KKS) since 2000.  It is an early childhood care and education centre-a  systematic and special care to usher in a well balance growth of the child.

Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation

We organized, coordinated and mobilized funds for some disasters in Manipur specially Chandel district. We were involved in the Chakpikarong bazaar fire, flood and landslide in Chandel district in July 2015. We coordinated relief work for CASA and Manipur Baptist Convention(MBC) for flood and landslide victims of July 2015. We are planning to mobilize funds for  relief and construction of shelters and rehabilitation of crops. There was also an earthquake on 4th January 2016 at the richter scale of 6.8 where 8 people were killed, 300 injured and more than 2000 houses were damaged. We are mobilizing funds for Earthquake victims in Tamenglong, Imphal west,Imphal east and Bishnupur.

Water and Sanitation

The society is an NGO member of Chandel district Water and Sanitation Committee. We assisted the Public Health Engineering Division Chandel in baseline survey and implementation plan for Chakpikarong, Khengjoy, Chandel and a part of Machi blocks. We constructed toilets for schools, individual households and community toilets. We also conducted Swatch Bharat Mission programmes like Rally, painting, essay competitions, inter personal communication etc. We are constructing the individual low cost latrines for BPL families. As an outcome of this programmes Rd.Joykumar Anal secretary CSDO has written on topics Safe drinking water and Hand washing for the syllabus of Anal text books for secondary school education.
